The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

By the Mountains of Madness

Return to the Trip Overview

Skunked again!
In my defense I will say I was carefully examining the newly located Utricularia minor (shown above), examining its growth characteristics, leaf details, and other generally scientific thingees. So I was a little busy and did not have time to look for more plants. Meanwhile, Beth was scanning around for more things to see. I was peering through my handlens, verifying that the plant before me had no tiny setulae on the terminal leaves, when I heard..."Barry, is this one of the other ones?"
"Other one whats?"
"Another Utricularia species...it looks different..."
Oh no, it can't be! But I looked at the specimen she was handing to me and knew instantly that she had found a third species.
