Return to the Trip Overview

Double-flower!
Before we reached dry land Bob found this fascinating 10-petaled Pinguicula planifolia!

Jim and Bob got in one car, I in the other, and we left for the white-flowered Pinguicula lutea site. Along the way, my cell phone indicated a few bars of reception, so I pulled over and managed to contact Brian, who was lunching at a café. We set a new rendezvous site for 45 minutes, then I piloted my rental car down the dusty road that Jim and Bob had taken. Almost immediately, I met them coming back---apparently they had made it to the site already, and nothing was there.

We headed north, towards Hosford, and the famous Dionaea site that had been planted years before by "old man Northrup."
