Here is a close view of pinedrops I saw in the
Idaho park. This saprophyte is
commonly encountered in conifer woodlands.
I guess that in addition to carnivorous plants, I am interested in parasites and
saprophytes: plants with unconventional solutions to the challenges of obtaining nutrients.
Other images of Californian specimens of this species in various life stage include these
juvenile inflorescences just emerging, and
a mature inflorescence in fruit.
