In dead leaves:
The Drosera intermedia was in particular quite nice.
I had fully intended to spend the remainder of my day at this site, but
my activities in the area had inflamed the tempers of the residents in several fire ant mounds,
and as a result every shrub and patch of dry ground was
crawling with angry stinging ants. It was time to leave.
What to do? I had about three hours of light left, and a bit more time for hiking in the gloaming. On a mad lark I decided to
go to The Green Swamp and walk the trails. Why not? After all, it seemed wrong to go to North Carolina and not pay my
respects to The Swamp!
