Rhizoid:
Here is something you don't see every day. At the base of Utricularia inflorescences are small specialized shoots called rhizoids. See the one arcing from the flower base (top-left) to the bottom-center of this image? The function of rhizoids is unknown. Quite odd little things, don't you think?

The leeches in this lake were much larger than this rhizoid.
