The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Southern Portugal in 2011

Return to the Trip Overview

Sundews:
After lunch, Beth, Susan, the Paulos and I headed to our next site. It was a nondescript dirt road intersection, and I watched my GPS display with amusement as we circled around and around before finally finding it. Obviously, the Paulos hadn't been there many times.

We were to join other carnivorous plant folks at this rendezvous. It was a most excellent meeting site, for it also had a small population of Drosera intermedia. How these guys ever found this tiny population of plants is astonishing. But here they were, and they looked great.

To my eyes, they rather look like Drosera intermedia from the northeastern coastal region of the USA--Massachusetts and northward.

Here is another image of them.
