Sintra:
Sintra is a municipality just outside of Lisbon that is famed for its historically significant architecture, and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a huge center for tourism, too. It was amazingly beautiful, even to my eye, which is usually not overly stirred by human construction.

It was also interesting in having a climate different from anything else I saw in Portugal. It was extremely humid and cool, and the lush moist vegetation reflected this.

The photographs above are a few moments from an ascent we made to an old Moorish castle.
