Return to the Trip Overview

Gaping pitchers:
My goodness, what is going on here? What an interesting shape to these pitchers! If only one or two of the pitchers had this shape, I'd probably attribute it to some combination of damage or disturbance. But all the pitchers on this plant are quite regular in showing a very strange pitcher shape! What would you make of this plant if you saw it in someone's collection? Would you guess Sarracenia alata, or S. oreophila, or perhaps a hybrid of something else?

That's all I have for you from this trip--I hope you enjoyed the views.
