Higher ground:
Ooh, a few meters away, the ground rose slightly and dried, and here we saw a pair of majestic Drosera gigantea plants. These are the normal var. gigantea, and they were a bit more than 100 cm tall, if I recall correctly. Not too shabby!

Notice that the plants reach full flowering stage before the leaves open. This plant does not want to capture and kill its own pollinators!

If you have never seen one of these plants up close, you might not realize that the stem is very hard and almost woody at its base, similar to the way a bamboo stalk feels. Very interesting!
