Funky flowers:
A closer view of a falsely viviparous inflorescence. Look at how the sepals and petals have been replaced with little leaf-like organs. Notice that the "ovary" at the top right is topped--not with styles--but instead with a little cluster of glandular hairs! I opened this ovary and found that it was filled with gland-bearing tentacles.

Not all the inflorescences of Drosera intermedia were so mutated. Many were producing seeds, as normal. In other areas the plants were all normal. I had fun walking around looking at the strangely distorted inflorescences. As I walked along the bank of the pond, hey.....
