The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Appalachian Excursion in 2005!

Hybrid!
OK, I'll admit right off that I haven't been absolutely and completely forthcoming in trip details, because I do not want to contribute to poachers figuring out where to get to these plants and poach them. Indeed, in this trip report I don't even mention all the sites I visited. However, as an aside I want to show you this image from one of the sites I visited. This is a naturally occuring hybid Sarracenia jonesii×purpurea var. montana. Out of season, sure, but isn't it nifty that this rare hybrid actually occurs in the wild? Its hybrid name is Sarracenia ×charlesmoorei.
