South Carolina:
I knew of Jim Luken
from his publications on Dionaea.
Jim and the members of his research group have a number of interests, including
plant invasions, ecological processes, and restoration work at Carolina Bays and other wetlands.
After a bit of fat-chewing with his research group, he took me on a tour of some of the sites he has been working at.
Here are some of the first Dionaea we saw. These are in Horry County. This puts these plants
about 100 km southwest of Wilmington, or 200 km
southwest of the plants I had seen just the day before in Carteret County, North Carolina!
Notice the rebar--these plants are in one of his study sites.
