A new area
The day was getting on, so I led Beth to a different part of Splinter Hill that Keith and Brian had shown me
earlier.
Instead of being a uniform field of Sarracenia, the distribution of
pitcher plants was more patchy. This had the effect of drawing
attention to each individual plant, so you could really compare one plant to another.
Here's Beth, resting before beginning another blast of photography. Between her and her tripod are the telltale
orange caps of water bottles. It is folly to go into the field without water---you'll simply die
of dehydration.
That's a cool plant in the left-foreground---let's take a closer look at it...
