The Carnivorous Plant FAQ Field Trip Report -

Sarracenia alata with a lagniappe, 2005

Return to the Trip Overview

Woof!
Is this a lovely, densely packed stand of plants, or what! Simply spectacular. Do you see what I mean when I talk about the clumping? The green plants are more closely packed.

A geeky photography note. You'll notice that this and the previous image are softly illuminated, while the extra images I merely link to at the bottoms of the pages (such as below) are much more contrasty. I much prefer the less-contrasty images. The only way to get large landscape images like that in the field is to shoot when the light is softer. Beth and I happened to be working on a partly cloudy day, so whenever possible I would take my photographs just when the sun was entering or exiting a cloud.

Here is another view of this pitcher plant field.
