Day's end
Despite the area's overwhelming loveliness, we were losing light and it was time to to be moving on.
We had spent only two days looking at carnivorous
plants, but had captured memories that would stay with us forever. Even though lacerated, hungry, dehydrated, itchy, and
sunburned, we had big smiles. Even the prospect of pushing our way back through the
charcoal pine trees bothered us not a bit!
Pity about the shadow partway on Beth--the sun came out just as we took this photograph. We tried a few other
self-portraits, some of which had much better lighting on Beth, but as usual I had especially
goofy expressions in them.
