Q: About Utricularia subgenus Utricularia section Chelidon
A: A section with one, very bizarre looking species. Being tuberous, having showy flowers, and
fairly long leaves, this section may have some relationships to section Orchidioides.
Utricularia mannii
This species has a single large
tuber at the base of the inflorescence. Additional tubers occur on the stolons. The flowers, though, are what really makes
this plant peculiar. The flowers
look like they have been streeeeeetched out, so they are very long, and very narrow. The leaves are several cm long. Altogether,
this would be a very interesting challenge for growers skilled in epiphytic species.
