Q: Field trip report: Louisiana and Mississippi in 2005


A: Early in 2005, my fabulous wife and I vacationed in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Big chunks of the trip were dedicated to New Orleans, where we sated our musical desires listening to jazz and fed ourselves to heavy torpor; time was also spent birding on the Gulf Islands (it was the time of northward migration, after all). However, we did spend some of the time in carnivorous plant habitat. This part of the world is the center of the range for Sarracenia alata, so that was tops on our list...
